Mother of pearl is a valuable material obtained from the inner layer of the shell of some molluscs, especially oysters. Of pearly white iridescent color, with excellent mechanical properties, hardness and resistance, it is used for the production of various objects, for example in cutlery for the inlay decoration of some surfaces.
